Samsung’s first Galaxy Buds offered a unique design among the growing copies of Apple AirPods. Samsung took another unique approach with its latest Galaxy Buds Live, which features a bean-shaped design.

We’ve been using the Galaxy Buds Live for a few weeks now, and this is what our experience was like:

The wireless earbuds are available in five colors: black, blue, bronze, red and white. All of these colors have a shimmery effect that makes them stand out once in your ears. The bean shape is actually enough to draw attention. The most important thing about the Galaxy Buds Live for me personally was the fit. Getting the right fit with the Galaxy Buds Live is important because it makes or breaks your listening experience.

Samsung supplies two earbuds with the Galaxy Buds Live, which it recommends for more wearing comfort. It also has videos showing how to properly wear the tops that you should definitely watch. The first time you try the earbuds, you’ll probably be amazed at how the technology works when they’re actually sitting outside your ear canal.

I struggled to fit the Buds Live properly due to my small ears, which is actually the case with most wireless earbuds. My friend, on the other hand, had no issues with the size and fit. You can also push the earbuds into your ear canal, which gives you a better audio experience.

Although I struggled with the fit of the earbuds, the experience was otherwise great. The earplugs feel light and are also nice when you lie down. The Buds Live also work well during workouts. The Galaxy Buds Live we received were the black, which looks the most subtle of the five. If you want yours to stand out even more, you can go for the other colors. Personally, I really liked the charging case for its compact size. It is smaller than most TWS cases today.

The sound quality of the Galaxy Buds Live is quite good. It manages to deliver the desired sound for songs from popular genres such as pop, indie, R&B and dance. I wasn’t too impressed with the Buds Live’s bass response. Old hip-hop songs like Westside Story lacked that punch you’d normally hear.

The Galaxy Buds Live comes with active noise cancellation which unfortunately didn’t work as advertised. There’s quite a bit of noise coming in with the Galaxy Buds Live, even with ANC enabled. It muffles some noise, but sometimes you feel like the feature doesn’t exist at all. If you’re looking for noise cancellation, the Buds Live is not a good choice.

The battery life is almost as good as Samsung promises. The Galaxy Buds Live with ANC lasts just over five hours. It charges quickly, so even a 10-minute charge will give you at least an hour of listening time. The Galaxy Buds Live also supports Qi wireless charging, so that’s another good thing.

verdict

The Galaxy Buds Live stands out because of its unique design, has good sound quality and a decent battery life. It would have been a well packaged product if the noise cancellation had worked. But if that’s not a big concern for you, then you can go for the Galaxy Buds Live.
