Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro is one of the most accurate fitness trackers in the market. But, the only thing that keeps most users away from it is the hefty price tag.
Is the price worth the features? Let us find out in detail.
Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro Review
The Gear Fit 2 Pro is a successor to the already popular Gear Fit 2, which looks similar in design but varies in terms of tracking features.
The Gear Fit 2 Pro is both a Smartwatch and an activity tracker. The band not only tracks different activities but also shows time, notifications and can even play music (standalone) without connecting to your Smartphone.
In short, it can double up as a second screen to your mobile as well as effectively track your fitness activities.
The Smartband is compatible with both Android and iOS devices.
There is a good old philosophy that says “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. May be Samsung has just followed this to the core and hence didn’t change the design.
The 1.5” curved Super AMOLED display blends into the plastic body, which is available in two colors – black or black and red.
The band is highly durable and it didn’t attract any scratches although I accidentally dropped it from a good height on to the hard concrete.
After wearing it for a while, I didn’t even realize that I was wearing the Smartband. I even slept without removing the band and didn’t feel uncomfortable at all.
When you go outsides, don’t forget to switch to Outdoor mode to get the visibility right.
There is a heart rate sensor on the back which gives you an accurate measurement of your pulse rate.
The Gear Fit 2 Pro supports multiple watch faces and also gives you a scrolling list of installed apps when you tap the button while at home.
While the default screen is the watch face, right navigation will bring up widgets, while the left navigation brings up the notifications.
You can additionally download different fitness-centric apps from the Galaxy Store. My favorite ones are MapMyRun, Endomondo and Speedo On (for tracking swimming).
The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro runs on their proprietary Tizen OS, which is very smooth and lag-free.
The fitness band is 5ATM waterproof, which means you can use it while swimming and even track your lap, calories burnt, distance traveled and heart rate.
There is also the ‘Water Lock’ mode that automatically disables the touch screen to prevent accidental touches due to water droplets.
The Gear Fit 2 Pro can track a lot of exercises like walking, running, cycling, squats, crunches, swimming and many more…
In my personal experience, I did find that the accuracy score is 95%, which is great considering the performance of other bands in the market.
The band also allows you to track your caffeine and water intake through manual counters on the display. It even shows you the weather and lets you set a timer or use it as a stopwatch.
Sleep monitoring is another beneficial tracking feature of the Gear Fit 2 Pro. It calculates the quality of your sleep based on the movements and BPM. However, I didn’t find it quite convincing.
Whereas the pedometer works great, thanks to the in-built GPS, which maps your runs or walks accurately.
Standalone Music Player
The watch has an in-built memory of 4GB, which can be used to store music files offline. You can listen to the songs by connecting to your Bluetooth headphones while working out. And, there is no need to connect your mobile to listen to music.
The watch comes with a 200 mAh battery, which gives you 2 to 3 days of battery on an average. However, with GPS and Heart Rate sensor turned on, you get around 8 to 9 hours of usage time.
You also get a proprietary wireless charger with magnets in place to hold the watch correctly. It took 90 minutes to charge the band completely.

Our Verdict: Is Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro Worth the Price?
The Gear Fit 2 Pro is definitely one of the best Smart fitness trackers in the market with so many tracking features. But, at Rs.13,950, it is quite expensive (Available on Flipkart.com)
It caters mainly to the fitness fanatics and not to the regular users who just need a pedometer to track their calories.
So, my final advice would be – buy it if you’re seriously considering fitness to be your 2nd wife. But, for regular tracking features, you can go with Fitbit devices.
