Rene Ritchie, the former editor of the Apple-focused site I more who has been a full-time YouTuber for the past two years, joins YouTube as the new creators contact, he announced on Wednesday. As a liaison for creators, Ritchie will serve as an advocate for creators within YouTube and work with creators to help them better understand YouTube, he said.

On YouTube, Ritchie has grown his own channel to over 325,000 subscribers, and I count myself as one of them. Most of his videos are deep dives on Apple-centric topics, and I learn a lot from his truly encyclopedic knowledge of the company.

Ritchie has clearly worked hard at networking within the YouTube community; his video announcing his new job features personalized clips from many creators, including big names like MrBeast, iJustine and MKBHD. As YouTube continues to expand features such as Shorts, live streaming, and improved comment spam removal tools, Ritchie’s experience building his own channel, connections with other creators, and deep knowledge of technology made him an ideal candidate for the liaison role. .

Ritchie becomes the second point of contact for YouTube creators. The first, Matt Koval, left YouTube in February. As part of the role, Ritchie will de @YouTubeLiaison Twitter account — his face is already the avatar of the account. And while he has a new job, Ritchie says he will continue to work on his personal YouTube channel.
